Kappa Saddle: the BEST Saddle Cage EVER
Today TriRig is proud to introduce the Kappa Saddle cage. This is perhaps the best triathlon bottle cage ever designed, and represents the first in a new series of hydration-focused products we plan to unveil over the next year.
But to see what makes Kappa Saddle so great, we should first take a look at our original Kappa cage. Kappa was designed to be a no-holds-barred cage design. It uses premium 3k weave carbon fiber for ultimate strength, and sports 2mm thick walls throughout the cage, about double what you find on most cages. Moreover, there are no cutouts anywhere in the wrap. The result is the maximum grip strength of any cage we’ve ever seen, period. There is no cage anywhere with better grip strength. Whether you use this between the arms, on a down tube, or behind the saddle, Kappa will not launch bottles. No bungee cords or straps needed. And its open wing design allows clearance for straws, if you’re using a refillable straw-type bottle between the arms.
But the weakness of traditional cage designs is that when used behind the saddle, the retention tab is now a hurdle you have to jump over in order to grab or replace your bottle. And that retention tab is being fought by the force of gravity, working to pull it down and away. We can do better.
That’s why we designed the Kappa Saddle cage. It takes everything great about the original Kappa, but inverts the design 180 degrees, for its inverted position behind your saddle. It is the first all-carbon, high-grip-strength cage with this inverted design. The retention tab is now behind you, no need to go over it to grab or replace a bottle. And now gravity actually works to pull the bottle INTO the retention tabs, rather than pulling away from them. Grabbing your bottle is now easy and effortless, and putting it away is just as fast. That means you get back into aero faster, saving you time. And you can focus on your ride, instead of worrying about whether you’ve launched a bottle and left it behind you.
Kappa Saddle is the first bottle cage of its kind, and we think it’s going to make a lot of athletes very happy over the long term.
