SRAM RED eTap AXS 1x Group

SRAM a toujours été un leader en matière d'innovation dans le domaine de la route et du triathlon. Depuis des débuts modestes, SRAM est devenue une sorte de supermarque, devenant un fabricant de composants complet, et si grande qu'elle a acquis plusieurs sociétés au cours du processus, dont Quarq, Zipp et d'autres ! Nous avons toujours aimé SRAM et la philosophie de la marque, mais nous n'avons pas toujours été séduits par le système eTap. Jusqu'à maintenant. La dernière offre de SRAM, SRAM RED eTap AXS (que nous appellerons simplement AXS), est un tout nouveau jeu de balle. Il change véritablement la donne en termes de ce que peut être un groupe haut de gamme, tout en offrant des innovations importantes pour les transmissions en général, y compris une nouvelle expérience incroyable dans l'espace 1x.


Aperçu d'eTap


Le système eTap sans fil de SRAM offre une alternative intéressante à la populaire transmission Di2 de Shimano.
Nous avons déjà bricolé notre propre système eTap 1x, et le principe est simple : moins de pièces, plus de simplicité et, finalement, un temps plus facile pour le cycliste. Vous pouvez simplement monter ou descendre. Pas besoin de vous soucier d'un dérailleur avant ou d'un levier de vitesse avant. Juste vers le haut ou vers le bas. Mais notre solution homebrew présentait des inconvénients. Plus important encore, sans embrayage de dérailleur, nous étions plus susceptibles de faire tomber une chaîne. Et bien sûr, 11 vitesses, c’est moins que 12. Les solutions proposées par AXS sont absolument géniales. L'amortissement liquide du dérailleur arrière fait un travail remarquable en empêchant la chute de la chaîne, tout comme le modèle de dent du plateau spécifique à 1x. Le système est simple, minimal, efficace et beau. Et il y a de nombreuses raisons à cela. Nous y reviendrons à la page suivante.


Quoi de neuf?
Le changement le plus évident apporté à l'AXS est qu'il s'agit d'un groupe à 12 vitesses. Mais c’est en réalité la moindre de ses différences par rapport au précédent groupe eTap Red 22. Plus important que le nombre de pignons, l'AXS propose un pignon à 10 dents comme engrenage le plus raide pour la cassette arrière, ce qui rend possible une grande partie des avantages de l'AXS. Un pignon à 10 dents n'est pas possible sur un corps de roue libre Shimano/SRAM standard, en raison de la géométrie. Des pignons plus petits ont nécessité le développement d'un tout nouveau corps de roue libre, baptisé XDr, qui est encore relativement nouveau mais qui (je crois) deviendra un standard de facto à mesure que ses avantages deviendront évidents pour les consommateurs et les concurrents de SRAM. Contrairement aux standards BB (et nous y reviendrons plus tard), ce nouveau corps de roue libre offre une réelle et substantielle amélioration par rapport à ses prédécesseurs. En effet, cela nous permet de passer enfin sous la barrière des 11 dents. Dans AXS, cela signifie des cassettes qui ont toutes un rouage à 10 dents comme plus petit membre. 3T a déjà profité de ce même format et a réalisé une cassette à 11 vitesses avec un pignon à 9 dents. Nous en saurons plus sur ces ratios et les calculs pertinents plus tard.


Évidemment, le titre ici est que nous sommes très impressionnés par la dernière offre de SRAM. AXS exploite la technologie impressionnante que SRAM a développée dans le passé, tant du côté mécanique qu'électronique, tout en offrant des améliorations significatives pour les composants individuels et en faisant de grands progrès pour la fonctionnalité du système dans son ensemble.
