Ironman Hawaii 2013: Race Day
The biggest event of the year has finally arrived. The 2013 edition of the Ironman World Championship race in Kailua-Kona was, as expected, filled with fireworks. Hawaii provided its ever-beautiful backdrop for the sport's greatest champions to come out and unleash their best. The men's race was predictably unpredictable, with utter chaos reigning until the end of the race, when Frederik van Lierde pulled away for his first Kona victory. On the women's side, former World Champ Mirinda Carfrae kept race favorite Caroline Steffen at bay, consolidating on the bike aboard her brand new Felt IA, and then unleashing her unbeatable run.
