PRO RIG: Matt Russell's Omni for Kona
Matt Russell is an athlete quite near and dear to our hearts here at TriRig. We have followed him over the years, and were delighted to work with him this year in a formal capacity, sponsoring him to ride our Omni bike, complete with just about everything we make. We helped him significantly improve his position and aero drag in the wind tunnel. And that wasn't just an academic exercise. And we watched with awe as he went through his season this year, crushing an 18-year-old course record en route to his win at Ironman Lake Placid. We saw him consistently improve his bike splits compared to the same races last year. In short, he has had a very successful ride with his new rig.
And now it is time for the biggest test of all. The big dance. The race of the year. The Ironman Hawaii World Championships in Kailua-Kona. So we asked Matt to meet us on the side of the road. THE road, that is. The Queen K highway. Here is his rig, complete exactly as Matt will ride it for the race (although he might opt for a shallower front rim, depending on wind conditions on the day). Enjoy this detailed look at his rig, and let's root for him to have a great performance out there on Saturday!
Thanks for the wonderful year, Matt. You represent TriRig brilliantly, and you look absolutely stunning on that Omni.
