Wingspan SC Installation Guide
Wingspan SC (Speed Concept)
⚠️ IMPORTANT: This guide applies only to the:
Trek Speed Concept (Disc Brake, Twin Post, 2022+)
If you are riding this bike and plan to install:
-
Longer arm cups
-
Super extensions
-
Scoops Ultimate EVO
You will need either:
-
Wingspan SC
-
OR our Super-X Plate (cleaner, more integrated solution)
Why is this required?
The Trek Speed Concept uses smaller M4 bolts at the arm pad bracket interface.
M4 hardware does not provide sufficient mechanical strength for long lever arm components like extended scoops or super extensions such as our Scoops Ultimate EVO.
Wingspan SC converts the mounting interface to M6 threaded hardware, creating a stronger and safer platform.
What’s Included
-
(2) Wingspan SC plates
-
(8) M4 mounting screws (for plate-to-bracket attachment)
- (4) M6 bolts for scoops attachment
The plates are identical and reversible.
🔧 Installation Steps
Step 1 — Mount Wingspan SC to Trek Arm Pad Bracket
-
Position one Wingspan plate on the arm pad bracket. The plates are reversible can be switched laterally or fore/aft depending on your position preferences.
-
Use 4x included M4 screws to attach the plate.
-
Repeat for the opposite side.
You will use:
-
4 screws per plate
-
8 screws total
Torque Spec:
-
3 Nm
-
Tighten progressively in an X-pattern
This ensures even clamping force.

Step 3 — Mount Arm Cups or Scoops
Wingspan SC plates feature M6 threaded holes.
-
Place your scoop or arm cup on top of the plate.
-
Align with the M6 threaded holes.
-
Use the M6 bolts provided with your scoops
Torque Spec:
- 6Nm

📐 Why the Plates Are Thicker
Wingspan SC plates are intentionally machined thicker to:
-
Match the height of the Trek extension interface
-
Provide clearance for longer scoops
-
Maintain proper arm cup alignment
This ensures your cups sit flat and clear the extension hardware.

If Using Super Extensions
If mounting super extensions:
-
The stock extension clamps may remain in place.
-
This creates no aerodynamic penalty.
-
The cockpit may appear more “mechanical,” but performance is unaffected.
For a cleaner look, consider the Super-X Plate system.
Final Safety Check
-
Confirm all M4 bolts are torqued to 3 Nm.
-
Confirm scoops are secured with M6 hardware.
-
Verify no interference with extensions or brake lines.
-
Perform a stability check before riding.
