El Shiv Especializado de Andrew Strauss

Andrew Strauss' Specialized Shiv

Varias personas me han pedido que escriba un artículo rápido sobre mi configuración para IM Boulder y, como mi bicicleta es uno de mis temas favoritos, estoy feliz de hacerlo.

En 2013, compré esta Specialized Shiv Comp Rival Mid Compact y la he ido actualizando poco a poco desde entonces. Tengo piernas largas y un torso corto, por lo que necesitaba encontrar un marco que me permitiera colocar mi sillín lo suficientemente alto sin tener que estirarme demasiado para apoyar los brazos en las almohadillas. El Shiv es ideal para mí y me encanta su vejiga de hidratación interna (el Fuelselage).

La transmisión se ha actualizado con una combinación de componentes DURA-ACE y Ultegra Di2. Las palancas de cambio y de freno son DURA-ACE. Los cambios delantero y trasero son Ultegra. Elegí Ultegra porque quería usar un cassette 11-32 en la parte trasera, y Shimano no fabrica un desviador trasero compatible con 32 dientes en la serie DURA-ACE. Publicaré un artículo detallado por separado sobre el casete Ultegra 11-32 y el desviador trasero RD-6870-GS, pero ahora les diré que me encanta. La batería Di2 está escondida en la tija del sillín. Tengo una unión de 5 puertos en mi potencia, que no es la mejor ubicación aerodinámicamente, pero es conveniente. Hay una unión de 4 puertos en el marco debajo del soporte inferior. Tuve que drenar un poco esta cavidad para que encajara en la unión. La manivela (FSA Gossamer) y los platos vienen de serie con la bicicleta. La cadena es una KMC X11SL. Hasta ahora estoy contento con la cadena KMC y me gusta que tenga un eslabón maestro.

Las ruedas son FLO 60 delante y detrás. Me gustan mucho las ruedas FLO y no dudaría en volver a comprarlas. Elegí 60 porque he tenido problemas con el viento cruzado en el pasado y soy un poco tímido. Después de andar con los 60 durante casi un año, creo que fui demasiado conservador y lamento no haber usado al menos un 90 en la parte trasera.

Los frenos son TriRig Omega SV delanteros y traseros. Odiaba los frenos en V que venían con el Shiv. Los Omega SV son más fáciles de ajustar y proporcionan mucha potencia de frenado. La carcasa del freno es una carcasa segmentada de enlace Jagwire Road Elite. Me gusta mucho esta carcasa porque es liviana, duradera y fácil de ajustar, pero odio los kits que vende Jagwire. No funcionan muy bien para una bicicleta Tri con cable interno. Tuve que conseguir piezas suplementarias de Jagwire dos veces y aún así no logré una configuración ideal. Si tuviera que hacerlo de nuevo, usaría un producto segmentado de otro fabricante.

Mi silla es una Sitero Specialized. Probé varios sillines de ISM, Cobb, Specialized y Dash, y descubrí que el Sitero se adapta mejor a mi cuerpo. Los pedales son TriRig Mercury, que me parecen simples, livianos y fáciles de usar.

Para hidratarme, tengo un soporte Glen Alden BTA con accesorio para computadora Garmin. Me gusta lo estable y liviano que es el soporte y cómo puedo colocar el Garmin lo más adelante posible. Detrás del sillín tengo un ala de carbono XLAB con dos botellas y una pequeña bolsa para piezas extra. Hice IM Boulder solo con líquidos. Utilicé las botellas de sillín para una mezcla de combustible alta en calorías, almacené agua en la vejiga interna del Shiv (Fuelselage) y usé el soporte BTA para las botellas de curso. Esta configuración funcionó bien, pero fue un poco exagerada. El año que viene, lo más probable es que utilice una sola botella tipo montura. Todas las jaulas eran XLAB Gorilla XT, que es, con diferencia, mi jaula favorita.

Para almacenamiento, tengo una bolsa adjunta al ala de carbono XLAB, una bolsa de tubo superior Dark Speed ​​Works y una pila de combustible Specialized. Esto también fue excesivo. Lo más probable es que me deshaga de la bolsa del tubo superior o de la pila de combustible. Aún no he decidido cuál. No me gusta el aspecto de la bolsa del tubo superior y no cabe mucho. Originalmente lo usé para contener geles, pero desde entonces cambié a un plan de nutrición totalmente líquido. En lo que respecta al Fuel Cell, odio que su tapa se siga saliendo sola y que no aguante la mayor parte de mi equipo plano.

Tengo un dispensador de sal en barra en mis dos extensiones. Tuve que usar Dremel una muesca en la parte posterior para colocar los cables Di2 debajo de los dispensadores de barras de sal, pero fue bastante fácil de hacer y realmente me gusta tener las barras de sal completamente dentro de las extensiones.
