Kona 2024: Patrick Lange's Canyon Speedmax Race Rig

Patrick Lange is a two-time Kona champion and one of the favorites in this year's race. We caught up with him on the Queen K highway this morning during a training ride as he gets dialed in for race day this Saturday.

While Lange is often thought of as a runner - and a FAST one at that - his bike setups have been impeccable, evolving year over year with improved fit and aerodynamics just as the sport's understanding of these things evolves over time.

He has a custom front-end designed to help the air flow over and around his arm/head/torso complex, rather than into it. He's very much "closing the bag," as is often said. This front end includes a custom one-piece arm cup solution as well as dual aero bottles to fill up the space between his arms and torso.

This is similar to solutions I've discussed recently, using our Alpha One bars and Scoops Ultimate SL cups (although Lange's one-piece setup is of course a different beast). Check out that recent fit analysis here and here.

While Lange's last World Championship victory was back in 2018, he is still in absolute top form, having come in second place at last year's race in Nice. Enjoy these detailed shots of his race rig, shot just today during his training ride.
