En cualquier bicicleta sólo hay tres puntos de contacto: el manillar, el sillín y los pedales. Las tres son áreas propicias para ahorrar peso, como ya hemos explorado al principio. Para esta entrega de la serie Lighten Up, nos dirigimos hacia el sur. Entre bielas, platos y pedales, tenemos muchos gramos que perder. Entonces empecemos.

Nuestra biela preferida para esta construcción es la Lightning SL Carbon. Es una manivela liviana con muchas funciones. Para un análisis realmente detallado de las distintas opciones de manivela ligera, definitivamente eche un vistazo a Tiroteo con manivela de bicicletas Fairwheel . Hicieron un trabajo fantástico al analizarlos todos, por lo que no necesitamos reinventar la rueda allí.

La biela Lightning SL es el equilibrio perfecto de lo que buscábamos. Es una de las bielas más livianas que existen, solo superada por la THM Clavicula y la AXE Morpheus. Pero supera a ambos en tres áreas. En primer lugar, presenta un factor Q agradable y estrecho, que posiblemente es mejor aerodinámicamente y es preferible desde el punto de vista ergonómico para muchos ciclistas. En segundo lugar, tiene una araña intercambiable, lo que significa que puede cambiar las bielas de compactas a estándar sin comprar una nueva. Esa araña también es compatible con Quarq, por lo que agregar potencia es una opción fácil y da como resultado la biela con medidor de potencia más liviana disponible en el mercado. Finalmente, esta belleza está disponible en cualquier tamaño, desde 160 mm hasta 190 mm, lo que la convierte en la manivela ligera más útil que existe. Y además es bastante rígido. Si la manivela te resulta familiar, es porque es posible que hayas visto a su progenie antes. A las bicicletas especializadas les encantó tanto el diseño Lightning que compraron la patente y actualmente lo fabrican ellos mismos como su juego de bielas S-Works, especificándolo en sus recorridos de más alta gama.

Anillos Brillantes

 

Lo combinamos con un exótico juego de platos Fibre-Lyte que pesan solo 80 g por par. La elección era obvia, tanto desde el punto de vista del peso como también desde el punto de vista estético. El tejido 3k de los platos Fibre-Lyte coincide con el de las bielas Lightning. Además, estos se encuentran entre los anillos más rígidos que existen (Quarq informa que se calibran muy bien en una configuración de medidor de potencia), y su único inconveniente, además de su precio, es el cuidado adicional que se debe tener para no desplazarse bajo carga. Para ser justos, nunca es una buena idea cambiar de marcha bajo carga, pero hacerlo en exceso puede provocar que se astille un diente del plato. Además, no durarán tanto como los anillos de acero, pero he recorrido varios miles de kilómetros con cada juego de anillos Fibre-Lyte que he pedido y siempre vuelvo por más. Son demasiado impresionantes. El peso final de este sistema, incluidos los brazos de biela, la araña, los platos y el pedalier, pesa la asombrosa cifra de 544 gramos. Esto es varios CIENTOS de gramos más ligero que un sistema Dura-Ace.
