Con el tiempo hemos hecho bastantes construcciones de bicicletas . Un subconjunto de ellos es lo que llamamos nuestras construcciones del " Curso de servicio ", proyectos extraespeciales realizados con especial cuidado para hacer que la bicicleta sea lo más elegante posible. Hoy, estoy feliz de mostrar una bicicleta que llamo "Omni Prime", básicamente la construcción más liviana lista para correr que se me ocurrió para nuestro buque insignia. Omnibicicleta . Esta construcción viene en una pluma 15,98 libras como se muestra en la imagen . Es un peso bastante ligero de conseguir. Pensamos que 16 libras sería una meta difícil pero emocionante. Y si bien Omni no es excepcionalmente pesado, no se considera un cuadro ultraligero de ninguna manera, por lo que tuvimos que tener especial cuidado al reducir gramos para alcanzar el peso objetivo. Comenzamos, por supuesto, con el cuadro Omni Complete, que incluye Aerobarras Alpha X , Frenos Omega X , etc. Luego nos pusimos manos a la obra.

Primero, comenzamos con las opciones obvias. Ciclos de guión se encarga de las ruedas, un combo tubular 60/Gretchen Disc que es sorprendentemente ligero pero tan aerodinámico como parece. Para los neumáticos, utilizamos el Vittoria Corsa Speed Tubular de 23 mm de rodadura maravillosamente suave en la parte delantera. En la parte trasera, es casi el mismo modelo: una Vittoria Corsa Tubular trasera de 25 mm. El Corsa en la parte trasera (a diferencia del Corsa Speed en la parte delantera) tiene una resistencia a la rodadura ligeramente mayor, a cambio de un neumático más ancho (más volumen de aire, conducción más cómoda) y presumiblemente un beneficio aerodinámico al llenar más el corte de la rueda trasera). . Este es uno de los tubulares más rápidos jamás fabricados y se conduce como un sueño.

Dash también proporcionó la combinación de sillín y tija Tri.7. Incluso si no tuviéramos el combo de tija de sillín integrada, el Tri.7 (y sus sucesores, el Stage.9 y TT.9) ha sido mi sillín preferido. desde su lanzamiento y todavía me encanta. Para cualquiera que tenga problemas de incomodidad en el sillín, tiendo a señalar directamente a Dash como mi recomendación inmediata. Juego de bielas: Ciclos de relámpagos manivela en 165 mm, con una costumbre Fibra Lyte Plato de 50 dientes, con logotipos de TriRig grabados encima de cada perno del plato.

Transmisión: configuración personalizada SRAM eTap 1x. Para ahorrar peso, nos saltamos los Blips y simplemente colocamos el BlipBox justo en el lado derecho. Extensión gamma . El resultado final terminó siendo más liviano incluso que una configuración mecánica RED 1x una vez que se incluyeron los cables/carcasa de la palanca de cambios. Luego colocamos una jaula CeramicSpeed OSPW, una cadena UFO y un pedalier PressFit para minimizar la fricción de la transmisión. Las palancas de hoja de 3T, ahora descontinuadas, son las más livianas que he visto en mi vida, con 60 g para el par. No son mis favoritas en términos de función y prefiero las palancas Shimano BL-TT79 que normalmente tenemos en stock con Omni. Pero para una bicicleta sprint-tri ultraligera, ofrecen potencia de frenado más que suficiente. Sólo una sensación blanda y un resorte de retorno bastante débil.

Personalizaciones adicionales: un gran proyecto para la bicicleta fue la creación de copas de brazo únicas. Nuestro objetivo era hacer la misma forma básica que nuestro querido Copas Ergo , pero pudimos ahorrar MUCHO peso al eliminar toda capacidad de ajuste de las copas. Estos ofrecen solo una posición y no mucho acolchado. Funcionan muy bien para esfuerzos cortos, pero no serían fantásticos para carreras de distancia de hierro. Probablemente volvería a las Ergo Cups para eventos de distancia. A continuación, mecanizamos algunas brochetas de aleación personalizadas con pernos de titanio personalizados (las versiones originales de nuestras brochetas Omni aerodinámicas son de acero). No hemos realizado pruebas a largo plazo para saber si son seguros como artículo de consumo habitual, pero como artículo de carrera único y personalizado funcionan. La tapa de repuesto del desviador delantero (la pieza que completa la forma aerodinámica de la bicicleta cuando se retira el soporte FD) se pegó en su lugar en lugar de atornillarse... nuevamente con el fin de ahorrar un par de gramos. Y para finalmente cruzar la línea de meta y pesar menos de 16 libras, se cambió la carcasa estándar por Alligator i-Links.
