Hoy presentamos un nuevo tipo de función en el sitio: el curso de servicio TriRig. El nombre "Curso de servicio" generalmente se refiere a cualquier tipo de servicio de mecánica de bicicletas prestado a atletas profesionales, desde simples puestas a punto el día de la carrera hasta proyectos de fabricación únicos y completamente personalizados. En consecuencia, es el nombre perfecto para esta nueva serie de funciones. Nos centraremos en algunos proyectos especiales que hacemos para algunos ciclistas correspondientemente especiales.

Para ser claros, la designación 'Curso de servicio' no se utilizará para TODAS nuestras compilaciones. Sólo aquellos que consideramos únicos, muy especiales o que por algún otro motivo merecen una atención especial. A menudo se trata de bicicletas que construimos para atletas profesionales, pero en ocasiones otras bicicletas también pueden ser adecuadas.

Para nuestro primer artículo del curso de servicio, desmontamos dos bicicletas Kestrel 4000 nuevas pertenecientes al campeón de Ironman Andy Potts y rediseñamos completamente la parte delantera para hacerla lo más resbaladiza posible. Escondimos todos los cables, reemplazamos los frenos originales con pinzas Omega SV y le dimos a Andy una bicicleta de la que puede estar orgulloso.

Andy es un buen amigo del sitio y nos mantenemos en contacto con cierta regularidad. Y tal como me ves hacer en este sitio web, a menudo hablo con Andy sobre el hecho de que él podría limpiar ciertos aspectos de su bicicleta. Cuando adquirió sus equipos Kestrel 4000 2014 con Di2 9070, tuve la oportunidad de verlos de primera mano y hacer un trabajo preliminar en solo uno de ellos. Pero le dije que realmente me gustaría intentarlo de nuevo y esconder realmente esos cables Di2. Unas semanas más tarde, Potts dejó dos bicicletas. Una era la misma bicicleta en la que ya había instalado un prototipo de Omega SV. La segunda era una bicicleta de repuesto completamente construida, que tenía un kit de componentes completo, pero necesitaba ser completamente desmantelada y cableada nuevamente para replicar la posición de Andy.

Le dije a Andy lo que quería hacer con los cables y que implicaría un trabajo personalizado bastante especial. Para aquellos de ustedes a quienes les gusta replicar las cosas personalizadas que hacemos en TriRig, esto no es fácil. De hecho, esto es a un nivel tan alto que no creo que ninguna tienda de bicicletas esté dispuesta a hacerlo por ti. Incluso podrían decirle que no es posible internalizar los componentes del Di2 9070 en este tipo de configuración. Y, sin duda, no es fácil. Pero ES posible. Le dije a Andy lo que iba a hacer, que incluía rellenar la caja de conexiones Di2 dentro del cuadro, volver a cablear las palancas de cambio y modificar el orificio del tubo superior del cuadro para que quepa todos los cables nuevos. A Andy le gustó el plan de acción. Me dio luz verde para continuar y ¡su sesión en el curso de servicio TriRig comenzó oficialmente!

En esencia, estábamos planeando limpiar su parte delantera y deshacernos de cada pieza de hardware expuesta, dejando nada más que las barras y el marco. Las bicicletas Kestrel 4000 de Potts no tienen la integración ultra limpia que encontrarás en bicicletas como la Trek Speed ​​Concept o la Cervelo P5, por lo que nuestra misión requeriría algo de creatividad y el coraje de salir de los libros. con nuestras modificaciones.
