Shiv especializado de Andrew Strauss

Várias pessoas me pediram para escrever um artigo rápido falando sobre minha configuração para o IM Boulder e, como minha bicicleta é um dos meus assuntos favoritos, ficarei feliz em ajudar.

Em 2013, comprei esta Specialized Shiv Comp Rival Mid Compact e tenho feito upgrades lentamente desde então. Tenho pernas longas e um tronco curto, então precisava encontrar uma estrutura que me permitisse deixar meu selim alto o suficiente sem precisar esticar muito os braços para descansar nas almofadas. A Shiv é uma ótima opção para mim, e adoro sua bexiga de hidratação interna (a Fuelselage).

O sistema de transmissão foi atualizado para uma combinação de componentes DURA-ACE e Ultegra Di2. Os trocadores e alavancas de freio são DURA-ACE. Os câmbios dianteiro e traseiro são Ultegra. Eu escolhi Ultegra porque queria usar um cassete 11-32 na traseira, e a Shimano não faz um câmbio traseiro compatível com 32 dentes na série DURA-ACE. Publicarei um artigo detalhado separado sobre o cassete Ultegra 11-32 e o câmbio traseiro RD-6870-GS, mas direi agora que eu o adoro. A bateria Di2 está escondida no meu canote. Tenho uma junção de 5 portas na minha mesa, que não é o melhor local aerodinamicamente, mas é conveniente. Há uma junção de 4 portas no quadro sob o suporte inferior. Tive que dremelar um pouco essa cavidade para encaixar a junção. A manivela (FSA Gossamer) e as coroas vieram de fábrica com a bicicleta. A corrente é uma KMC X11SL. Estou satisfeito com a corrente KMC até agora, e gosto que ela tenha um elo mestre.

As rodas são FLO 60s na dianteira e traseira. Gosto muito das rodas FLO e não hesitaria em comprá-las novamente. Fui com 60s porque tive problemas com ventos cruzados no passado e sou um pouco tímido. Depois de andar com as 60s por quase um ano, acho que fui um pouco conservador demais e me arrependo de não ter ido com pelo menos uma 90 na traseira.

Os freios são TriRig Omega SVs dianteiros e traseiros. Eu odiava os freios V que vinham com a Shiv. Os Omega SVs são mais fáceis de ajustar e fornecem bastante poder de parada. A carcaça do freio é a carcaça segmentada Jagwire Road Elite Link. Eu gosto muito dessa carcaça, pois é leve, durável e fácil de ajustar, mas eu odeio os kits que a Jagwire vende. Eles não funcionam muito bem para uma bicicleta de triatlo com cabos internos. Eu tive que obter peças suplementares da Jagwire duas vezes, e ainda assim não acabei com uma configuração ideal. Se eu tivesse que fazer tudo de novo, eu usaria um produto segmentado de um fabricante diferente.

Meu selim é um Specialized Sitero. Eu experimentei vários selins da ISM, Cobb, Specialized e Dash, e descobri que o Sitero se encaixa melhor no meu corpo. Os pedais são TriRig Mercury, que eu descobri serem simples, leves e fáceis de usar.

Para hidratação, tenho um suporte Glen Alden BTA com acessório para computador Garmin. Gosto de como o suporte é estável e leve, e como posso posicionar o Garmin o mais para a frente possível. Atrás do selim, tenho uma asa de carbono XLAB com duas garrafas e uma pequena bolsa para peças extras. Fiz IM Boulder apenas com líquidos. Usei as garrafas do selim para uma mistura de combustível de alta caloria, armazenei água na bexiga interna do Shiv (Fuelselage) e usei o suporte BTA para garrafas de curso. Essa configuração funcionou bem, mas foi um pouco exagerada. No ano que vem, provavelmente usarei apenas uma única garrafa de selim. As gaiolas eram todas XLAB Gorilla XTs, que é de longe minha gaiola favorita.

Para armazenamento, tenho uma bolsa presa à asa de carbono XLAB, uma bolsa Dark Speed ​​Works para o tubo superior e uma Specialized Fuel Cell. Isso também foi um exagero. Provavelmente vou me livrar da bolsa para o tubo superior ou da Fuel Cell. Ainda não decidi qual. Não gosto da aparência da bolsa para o tubo superior e ela não segura muita coisa. Originalmente, eu a usava para guardar géis, mas desde então mudei para um plano de nutrição totalmente líquido. Quanto à Fuel Cell, odeio como sua tampa continua saindo sozinha e como ela não segura a maior parte do meu kit plano.

Tenho um dispensador de sal em ambas as minhas extensões. Tive que usar a Dremel para fazer um entalhe na parte de trás para passar os fios Di2 abaixo dos dispensadores de sal, mas isso foi bem fácil de fazer, e eu realmente gosto de ter os sal completamente dentro das extensões.
