Interbike 2018: Showroom Floor, Pt. 2

Here's the second part of our trip around the showroom floor at Interbike 2018. As mentioned in yesterday's post, this year's show was not exactly a bonanza for the gear-loving triathlete. Although there were a few small bits we were excited about, the show was ultimately something of a disappointment.

The good news is that there's a VERY tri-specific event coming up next month in Hawaii. For now, enjoy these parting shots, and we'll see you soon in Kona!

  • A very sharp-looking e-bike. Sharp as in pointy.
  • Wonder why e-bike batteries are always rectangular and clunky-looking? It's because they're usually built like this.
  • Another oversized jockey wheel ... but this time they decided to completely cop the name from CeramicSpeed. Bad form.

  • There have been a number of e-bike companies building a complete motor + battery system into a hub. Maybe it's just paranoia, but I'm always worried we will one day discover someone using mechanical doping by putting one of these inside a disc wheel.
  • Enduro always has these demo setups so you can see just how smooth their bearings roll.
  • And finally ... the 'Unintentional Irony' award goes to the graphic design department of Interbike itself. See that lovely Argon18 tri bike that is the marquis of the presentation, featured all over the Event Guide, maps, website, and more? Not only was this show decidedly NOT tri-focused ... but Argon18 didn't even attend the show.
