Mercury SL : les pédales de route les plus légères au monde

Aujourd'hui, examinons de plus près l'un des produits les plus importants de notre gamme SL, les pédales Mercury SL . Ces pédales offrent plusieurs fonctionnalités très importantes que vous ne verrez peut-être pas au premier coup d’œil. Alors allons-y.

Dès le départ, vous remarquez que les pédales Mercury sont petites, fines et légères. Si léger en fait qu'un ensemble Mercury complet, deux pédales, deux cales et tout le matériel, est plus léger qu'une seule pédale provenant de nombreuses autres offres haut de gamme. Mais plus encore, ils sont extrêmement simples. La construction de chaque pédale se compose d'un axe en titane, de deux roulements en acier inoxydable, d'un manchon de roulement et d'un boulon d'extrémité usiné sur mesure pour maintenir le tout en place. Et si vous avez déjà démonté une pédale, vous remarquerez que ces roulements sont effectivement très gros dans le monde des pédales. Mercury SL est la seule pédale sur le marché à avoir deux roulements de cette taille avec cette largeur d'appui. Le résultat est un coup de pédale extrêmement doux, avec moins de friction, ce qui signifie moins de perte de puissance mécanique.

En plus de cette idée, nous avons conçu Mercury comme une pédale sans flottement. D’après mon expérience personnelle, le flottement des pédales a causé bien plus de problèmes qu’il prétend en résoudre. Pour moi-même et pour d'innombrables clients qui m'ont contacté avec une expérience similaire, prendre le temps de trouver la position idéale de vos pieds, puis avoir une pédale fixe pour la soutenir, rend la conduite plus confortable, plus verrouillée et plus puissante. , comparé à la sensation de patinage sur glace des pédales flottantes. Il n’est pas étonnant qu’une grande partie des coureurs professionnels du peloton et des cyclistes sur piste insistent sur les systèmes de pédales fixes.

Passons maintenant aux taquets eux-mêmes. Le mécanisme ne pourrait pas être plus simple ni plus efficace. Une simple ouverture en forme de C saisit facilement les pédales, exerçant des centaines de livres de force de préhension. Cela signifie que les cales ne se détacheront jamais lors des mouvements de pédalage normaux. Cependant, une simple supination de votre pied permet de les libérer facilement. Vous voudrez peut-être vous entraîner une ou deux fois sur un entraîneur avant de prendre la route, mais au bout de deux minutes, vous aurez l’impression d’être votre nouvelle normalité.

Le concept de Mercury remonte à des décennies aux pédales à broche du passé. Mais c'est la SEULE pédale jamais fabriquée qui permet d'utiliser ce concept mécanique avec des patins standard à trois boulons et un modèle standard à trois boulons. Vous disposez de suffisamment d'espace pour un réglage avant/arrière et même en rotation, afin que vous puissiez trouver la position parfaite pour vos cales et optimiser votre coup de pédale.
